My personal life has been very stressful lately. My father in law passed away and my mother in law has moderate Alzheimer's and has come to live with us. Then having missed 3 weeks to get everything under control and playing catch up working 50+ hours a week, but still needing to manage my family, with the addition. So here I am.... My newest development is my doc thinks I am dairy (casein) intolerant too. My autoimmune responses are not calming down as he expected and causing congestion in my liver and spleen. Wow, has this been hard for me to accept.... I have done the testing (before I chickened out) to see if I am. But I can say that I don't remember dreading the results of my gluten test as much as I am dreading these. Then when I mentioned it to my mom she said oh yeah when you were a baby they said you were allergic to milk but I just gave your more formula and you were fine. I was adopted, she was told this when they adopted me and gave her soy formula for me. Her thoughts were that she had raised 5 boys already and she knew better..... Which helps me as a quick fix if I need a snack.

To the left to the left....

Ok, so today is 1 week that I have been gluten free. Woot Woot Hooray!Happy dance. I went and saw Caylor today for acupuncture on my hand. I never get over the power of acupuncture. To give you the history: my hand was injured in November 1989 in a car accident. I spiral fractured my third metacarpal and later found out that I had a scapho-lunate dissociation. I went on in 1992 to have a BLATT procedure to help stabilize my pain and scapho-lunate dissociation. I went through therapy after this and had no problems until 2000 when I developed DeQuervain's tendinitis on my left. In November of 2000 I had surgery to release this. Typical recovery and I was ok. I had been told I was developing carpal tunnel syndrome. I lost my job the week after 9-11 and just dealt with my symptoms. So last October I fell on the stairs (klutz gene strikes again) and landed on my left hand. I developed pain and went on to getting severe pain to DeQuervain's recurring. I work with one of the top hand docs in the country so I went to him to see what could be done. Well after examining me he told e that when I had my DeQuervain's released back in 200 the doctor had cut the radial nerve and I had a neuroma, developed bone spurs in my wrist. Great!!! So I had an MRi which showed degenerative disease in my wrist fluid in the first compartment. Dr Ozer and I talked and he said he could do a radial styloidectomy to give the scapho-lunate where the bone spurs were more room. Re release the DeQuervain's, and excise the neuroma. We scheduled surgery for the beginning of February... (stay tuned)

Greetings...

Wow, where does one start when they are starting a blog. This has been somewhat overwhelming... but I am going for it. I have been diagnosed with gluten intolerance got the diagnosis last Thursday. This has not been easy... Over the next few weeks I will introduce different portions of my world to you. There is just way too much for one day (lol) so I will break it up. My life starting last Thursday on must be gluten free. In the past few days, since receiving my diagnosis my experiences with telling people about this have been mixed. While some that I have shared with that who know someone who also shares my condition are understanding and supportive others have dismissed it as a new fad and "everyone is gluten intolerant". I feel it is my duty/destiny to share/blog this with you. While I have only had this condition for less than a week I feel like I have been brought here for a reason.... So here I am gluten-free, married with a 4 year old son and 19 year old daughter and a grandmother soon. Life has handed me this, and I am strong so I know life has not given me anything more than I can handle...
